My Officiant Philosophy & Style

There are excellent officiants in the Denver-Boulder area and I’m confident that you’ll find the one who’s right for you. We tend to each have our own philosophies and styles of service. Therefore, I recommend that as you look for your officiant, you take the time to understand the various philosophies we work from, as well as the specific services we offer. My philosophy of officiating is that officiating is a sacred and beautiful privilege. To stand with you during your wedding ceremony is not only a blessing beyond words, it’s also a highly intimate and personal experience. That’s why I think it’s essential to take the time to get to know the couples I work with. Spending some time with my couples is actually one of my favorite things about being an officiant. It's such a joy to get to know them, to share in their love, and to then help them to have the wedding of their dreams by creating a warm and wonderful ceremony for them. I've officiated hundreds of weddings, and I've been blessed by every couple whose wedding I've had the joy of officiating. My ceremonies are fully personalized and customized to honor and reflect the bride’s and groom’s personalities, as well as their uniquely beautiful love stories. I’m not a "Las Vegas" style officiant. I prefer to work with couples who want an officiant they can spend some time with... an officiant who’ll give them the opportunity to have a lot of meaningful input into their ceremony... an officiant who’ll go that extra mile to help make their wedding a truly extraordinary experience.

How My Officiant Process Works:

FREE INTRODUCTORY CONSULTATIONS: If you’d like to meet with me before booking me as your officiant, I’m happy to do so. I meet with couples at my home in Southeast Boulder, near Louisville.

HIRING PROCESS: Once you’ve decided to hire me, you’ll need to complete a Reservation Form and mail that to me, along with your $150 deposit. (The Reservation Form is found under the “How to Book” section of this web-site.) When I receive your Reservation Form and deposit, I’ll confirm your reservation by mailing a copy of the Reservation Form back to you. If I’m no longer available on your date, I’ll return your deposit to you.

QUESTIONNAIRE: Since all of my ceremonies are personalized & customized, I’ve designed a Wedding Planner Questionnaire to help me get to know you and what you’re looking for in your ceremony. I’ll mail a copy of my Questionnaire to you when I confirm your reservation, and you’ll then complete the Questionnaire at your leisure. About 6-8 weeks before your ceremony, we’ll get together at my home for our Planning Meeting. At this meeting, we’ll talk about your answers to the Questionnaire, and whatever other ideas you may have for your ceremony. Planning meetings typically take about two hours. They’re a wonderful opportunity for me to get to know more about you and your love story so I can write your ceremony accordingly.

WRITING THE CEREMONY: After our Planning Meeting, I’ll have the information and insights I need to write your personalized ceremony. Once I have your ceremony written, I’ll e-mail an Order of Service to you.

ORDER OF SERVICE: I provide you with a detailed Order of Service - an outline of your ceremony. It also contains the Processional and Recessional information.

REHEARSAL: If you’re having a rehearsal and you’ve hired me to conduct your rehearsal, I’ll be at your rehearsal. Otherwise, you can conduct your own rehearsal using the information I provide on the Order of Service. (See the Rehearsal Information Sheet in the “How to Book” section of this web-site for more detailed information on rehearsals.)

OFFICIATING: The day of your ceremony, I’ll arrive about 30 minutes before your ceremony’s start time. I’ll make sure that everything’s ready for the ceremony, and I’ll also fill out your Marriage License. I’ll be there to support and celebrate you before the ceremony starts, and to do everything I can to help assure that your ceremony will go smoothly. All I’ll ask of you two during the ceremony is that you will relax and revel in the extraordinary joy of committing your lives to one another.

MARRIAGE LICENSE: After the ceremony, you’ll need to sign the Marriage License. Typically couples also have a few witnesses sign their license, but witnesses are optional in Colorado. I’ll take your signed license home with me and mail it to the County Clerk to be recorded. The County Clerk will mail your license back to you. I’ll also give you a Souvenir Marriage License as a memento of your ceremony.

PRICING INFORNATION: My fee depends on the location of your ceremony, as well as whether or not you want me to attend your rehearsal. Please feel free to contact me for an exact fee quote. For all ceremonies, a $150 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of booking, and the remainder of the fee is due the day of the ceremony.
